Wreck-It Ralph: Plot

Every night after Litwak’s Arcade shuts, the various video game characters step out of their roles and interact with one another through a power strip they call Game Central Station. Main antagonist Wreck-it Ralph in Fix-it Felix Jr. goes to a villains’ support group called Bad-Anon to vent about having to play the villain. Following his exclusion from the game’s 30th anniversary celebration, Ralph resolves to achieve recognition by way of a medal.

Ralph listens in on the players as they battle insectoid enemies known as Cy-Bugs in the first-person shooter game Hero’s Duty and decides to take a medal after learning that players may earn one. When Ralph crashes into the candy-themed kart racing game Sugar Rush in an escape shuttle containing a Cy-Bug, he must race through the game to find his way out. Since Ralph has left, his game is now officially out of sequence. Felix abandons the game in search of Ralph, and he teams up with Sergeant Calhoun, the protagonist of Hero’s Duty, as she pursues the potentially viral Cy-Bug.

Concept & Story

In the late 1980s, Disney came up with the idea for Wreck-It Ralph. At the time, it was called “High Score.” Since then, it has been remade and rethought several times. In the late 1990s, it was called Joe Jump, and in the mid-2000s, it was called Reboot Ralph.

Release Date

The movie was supposed to come out on April 22, 2013, but that date was changed to November 2, 2012, because it was done early. Paperman, a short animated movie from Disney, came out at the same time as the movie.
