Lenovo Yoga 720 (15-inch) Review: Powerful 2-in-1 Laptop

Lenovo Yoga 720 Review: Lenovo Yoga 720 is a decent 2-in-1 laptop. It’s just as comfy as a tablet or laptop, except it weighs 4.4 pounds (2kg) instead of 2.9. (1.3kg). Ports are somewhat different.

The laptop has two USB Type-A connectors and one USB-C port. The proprietary single-pin Lenovo charger is still utilised, which we’ll discuss below.

The 15-inch Lenovo Yoga 720’s specifications are similar to the 13-inch model. We reviewed a setup with an Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050, putting the laptop on par with the Samsung Notebook 9 Pro and the HP Spectre x360 15.

Lenovo Yoga 720 Review: Design

Lenovo Yoga 720 is well-built. Aluminum finish and six-row illuminated keyboard scream comfort.

The key travel feels better than the MacBook Pro’s butterfly mechanism, and each key is rounded for greater ergonomics. If each key is fashioned like your fingers, you’re less likely to hit the incorrect one.

It’s not as pleasant or precise as Apple’s Force Touch trackpads, but it’s one of the best on a Windows laptop. The Lenovo Yoga 720’s silvery clicker adds to its elegance.
The laptop has a single rear-facing vent for airflow. The fans aren’t quiet, but they’re never annoying.

Lenovo’s 2-in-1 is the first to employ Intel’s standard voltage, quad-core “H” series Core i7-7700HQ CPU. You’d think the laptop would be noisy with a GTX 1050, but it’s not.

The laptop’s tiny chassis makes it great for viewing movies in bed on a Sunday. While 1080p won’t look as fantastic, 4K begins at $1,349.

Performance of Lenovo Yoga 720

The Lenovo Yoga 720 destroys its competition. HP Spectre x360 15 and Samsung Notebook 9 Pro didn’t do well in our benchmarks since they used H series processors.

Even with half the RAM, the laptop outperformed the HP Spectre x360 in every test. It outperformed the Samsung Notebook 9 Pro in all tests except Geekbench 4 single-core, PCMark 8 Home, and TechRadar movie.
This machine isn’t designed to run Nier: Automata at 1080p and 60 fps with all settings maxed up. Nvidia’s GeForce Experience programme recommends running recent triple-A games at medium settings and HD (1,366 x 768) resolution.
BioShock Remastered, a small remake of a game from 10 years ago, works brilliantly with all visual settings (including resolution) turned up. It is a good choice for light or classic gaming.

Lenovo Yoga 720 Review: Battery life

The Lenovo Yoga 720 boasts a superior battery life compared to the Samsung Notebook 9 Pro, despite failing our movie test.

Even with its higher voltage needs, it beat the HP Spectre x360 15 (7 hours, 7 minutes). Though it didn’t match the Samsung Notebook 9 Pro’s 8 hours and 23 minutes, it came close to the “up to 9 hours” claimed by Lenovo, a rarity in the laptop industry.

Conclusion

Lenovo’s Yoga 720 may change your mind about 15-inch hybrids. This laptop is well-rounded despite some small flaws. It may be the greatest 2-in-1 for power and battery life.

Even without connectors, this 15-inch laptop-tablet can accomplish all you need. That includes Netflix and gaming. The Lenovo Yoga 720 isn’t “best” at any one job, but it’s a multi-faceted powerhouse that rotates 360 degrees.
