Employee of the Month Cast and Plot
For years, Zack Bradley has been working at the neighbourhood “Super Club” as a box boy. His free time with coworkers Lon Neilson, Iqbal Raji and Russell Porpis-Gunders.
Zack is polite, popular, and supportive despite his laziness. Vince Downey has been an Employee of the Month 17 times. He’s pompous and harsh to his coworkers, notably boxing guy Jorge Mecico.
Zack and Vince compete for Amy Renfro’s affection when she’s hired. Zack learns from Russell that she slept with the Employee of the Month at her former job. Amy is repulsed when Vince makes a move on her during dinner. He’s oblivious to Amy’s feelings and keeps chasing her. Zack started working on time and harder, challenging Vince for the crown. He dates Amy at the Super Club.
Within a few days, Vince still wins the Daily Star and Zack realizes it’s no easy feat. With Iqbal’s help and Zack finding his rhythm, Zack wins on day two contrary to Vince’s wishes. Vince attempts to disrupt Zack’s streak of stars by breaking into his house to change clocks; this causes him to arrive a minute late the following day but thanks to Iqbal’s assistance his attendance card suggests he arrived on time – leading Vince’s plan to fail.
Zack takes Iqbal’s softball shift against Maxi-Mart and, upon leaving to play, Iqbal gets dismissed. Zack’s friends become frustrated by his new attitude and believe he’s turning to Vince for Amy’s pleasure. Amy overheard Zack’s true intentions and was horrified; she compared him to another Employee of the Month whom she had sex with but couldn’t stand his attitude so asked for a move away from him.
Zack and Vince are level. Zackleaves earns Iqbal’s job back, apologizes to Lon, Iqbal, and Russell on the day of tie-breaking competition, and says that he wants to win this competition for pride rather than recognition.
Zack, Lon, Iqbal and Russell arrive as the store manager is about to announce Zack’s departure. HR had been bribed with a Butterfinger by Russell; Zack apologizes to Amy and tells her she’s made him a better person. Vince complains but the fastest checkout battle continues – with the victor taking home Employee of the Month honors!
Vince comes back with only seconds to spare, but during the award ceremony security guards display surveillance video of Vince putting store merchandise behind his back without scanning it. According to store assistant manager Amy, Vince’s receipt is shorter and costs less than it should; videos indicate Vince hasn’t rung up products all year, costing the store thousands of dollars in lost sales. Zack ultimately triumphs and is reunited with Amy after Vince’s dismissal.
Vince is on probation at Maxi-Mart after being dismissed from the Super Club. Jorge treats Vince with equal consideration and offers to drive Vince to his bus stop in his new vehicle; however, he makes sure not to disturb Vince’s ankle monitor during their journey.
