Dead Island 2: A Classic Dead Island Feature will Return

Dead Island 2: Gameplay structure is similar to the original game’s, however not all fans will like it. A weapon durability element that restricts the amount of gear used in Dead Island 2 will return. The game was re-revealed this year with two new trailers after a protracted development hell. The sequel to 2011’s Dead Island was originally shown in 2014 and sounded promising, but years of radio silence and a difficult production cycle followed.

Dambuster Studios, creator of Homefront: The Revolution, is working on Dead Island 2. A game leak on Amazon gave fans the release date before Gamescom 2022. The highly anticipated sequel to Dambuster’s zombie action game will be released on March 3, 2023.

The gameplay in Dead Island 2 will change from the first in a number of ways, but there will also be many similarities. Dead Island’s crafting, Rage, and weapon durability will return. Adam Duckett, Dead Island 2 Design Director, stated weaponry deteriorating over time is key to gameplay. Duckett: “We want gamers to use every weapon.”
Only melee weapons deteriorate with time, so players who prefer to concentrate on firearms won’t worry about a revolver wearing broken. Players will have trouble obtaining enough ammunition to confront zombie hordes. Art Director Adam Olson said the game’s weapon degradation mechanism keeps it “realistic.”

According to Olson and Duckett, weapon deterioration enables other sections of the game to go over the top. Dead Island isn’t the only game with a wear-and-tear system for weapons. Breath of the Wild only enabled the Master Sword to not degrade over time, while Dying Light 2 also offered weapon durability, but with a special item, players could avoid gear breaking.

Dead Island 2 Release

The Game releases on PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S on April 3, 2023.
