Crime Boss: Rockay City will be released on PC and platforms in early 2023 by 505 Games. The game’s cast would raise heads if linked to a Hollywood film, much alone an indie heist game. The reveal was part of The Game Awards 2022 event, which unveiled over a dozen projects, including Hades 2 and Crime Boss: Rockay City.
Ingame Studios, a 2020 Czech Republic-based business, developed the game. According to the studio’s website, its workforce includes gaming industry veterans who worked on Kingdom Come Deliverance and the Mafia series. Since its offices are in a 3,200 square foot downtown “castle,” the company seems to be more financially stable than the average independent business.
Crime Boss: Rockay City Cast
Crime Boss: Rockay City’s star-studded cast reflects Ingame Studios’ support, including Michael Madson, Kim Basinger, Danny Glover, Danny Trejo, and Chuck Norris, among others. Most of the actors also lent their voices and likenesses to the game’s large character cast.
Crime Boss takes set in Rockay City, a fictitious Florida city inspired by GTA: Vice City. The game will borrow from the ’90s, whereas Rockstar’s cult hit mirrored the ’80s. The game will include spectacular, action-packed heists, similar to Overkill Software’s Payday.
It is an AA game, despite its star-studded cast, as shown by its $39.99 pricing. Up to December 12, the Epic Games Store is offering a 40% discount on the pre-order of the game. Unreal Engine 5 from Epic powers the game.
Release Date of the Game
The game’s release might affect Payday 3, which is still slated for 2023. Even if Payday 3 hasn’t been delayed in 2022, 505 Games may want to avoid publishing it too close to Ingame Studios’ first release, thus Overkill’s next project might be put until 2024 while Crime Boss finds an audience. Crime Boss: Rockay City will be released on April 28, 2023 for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
