Call of Duty: Warzone 2: Modern Warfare 2 will be released later this year and more leaks and rumours are appearing.
Recent information indicates Activision plans to unveil Modern Warfare 2 to the public in June, with a multiplayer beta following shortly thereafter in October. Despite this early disclosure of some details, many remain under wrap.
Release Date For Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 2
The Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 release date is presently unknown, however it is believed to be somewhere in late October or November 2022.
TheMW2Ghost, a well-known Call of Duty leaker, claimed on May 18 that they’d seen the future map that will be utilised for both Warzone 2 and the mysterious DMZ mode coming to Modern Warfare 2, which leakers suspect is an Escape from Tarkov-inspired survival mode. TheMW2Ghost posted a simple map layout on Twitter, claiming it was a rebuild based on the original map image.
The leaked image doesn’t provide much detail, but it does show a vast river flowing along the map’s length and a lake to the east. A few padlock and weapon icons have been marked on the map, but it’s unclear what they’ll symbolise in this new game.
On May 17, YouTuber NerosCinema revealed probable Warzone 2 material on his channel, stating that the battle royale sequel will have a different approach to loadout drops. While loadouts are expected to return in Warzone 2, NerosCinema feels that with the addition of a new feature called Strongholds, the technique of securing one will change. Loadout drops will be hidden behind a stronghold feature, according to this leak, and players will have to accomplish a set of missions or objectives in order to access their loadout. Normal ground loot will still be available, but the leak suggests that strongholds will be the sole option for Warzone 2 players to get their unique loadouts.
As a result the padlocks on TheMW2Ghost map graphic could be identifying Warzone’s prospective stronghold placements. Journalist and leaker Tom Henderson has also confirmed the NerosCinemas disclosures. On Twitter, Henderson stated, “I’m not going to beat around the bush, but a lot of this is genuine.” I’m guessing there are some inconsistencies because the source can’t recall everything. However, it appears that leak overflow is on the way.
Warzone 2 And Modern Warfare 2 Leaks Surface
NerosCinemas reports the battle royale sequel will be more similar to Black Ops 4’s Blackout than Modern Warfare 2019’s Warzone. Armor plating will still be available, but players need a satchel for storage – much like Blackout’s armor system. Players are expected to have a gear bag with limited inventory space like Blackout; extra guns can be stored there but take up more room than other items, giving a classic battle royale inventory management experience, according to NerosCinemas’ sources.
Warzone 2 may be a hybrid of Blackout and Warzone, though any rumours should always be taken with a grain of salt since details can change before release.
