At that price, we’re not moaning about 90% DCI-P3 colour compatibility or the lack of a USB-C connector. Especially for rapid, cheap gaming.

Samsung Odyssey G7 is a great panel that may require calibration. A 240Hz refresh rate and 1440p resolution are the sweet spot for gaming. Even if you don’t see the difference, you’ll know your display can handle 240fps in games.

If you want a smooth-running monitor, choose the Asus TUF VG259QM. It has a 280Hz refresh rate and supports G-Sync and Asus’ Extreme Low Motion Blur Sync. No matter how quickly you go, the image is sharp and smooth.

It has poor colour coverage and no gamma control. Despite having 99% sRGB, the Asus TUF VG259QM is not a good picture or video editing monitor. If you just care about graphics, this is a winner.

7. MSI Oculux NXG253R

MSI’s ULMB technology keeps fast-moving pictures smooth. Variable backlighting boosts contrast.

Compromised made. This monitor doesn’t have speakers or USB-C. And just 1080p. Excellent ergonomics and reflection handling are included. The MSI Oculux NXG253R’s pricing and speed make up for its flaws.
