Harry Potter and the Cursed Child Movie Release Date: It has been over a decade since Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, and Rupert Grint last played Harry Potter, Hermione Granger, and Ron Weasley; yet director Chris Columbus wants them back for one last adventure. According to Variety, Columbus plans on adapting The Cursed Child, a 2016 Harry Potter play that takes place 19 years after the last book in the series.
“My dream is to direct ‘The Cursed Child,'” Columbus declared. “It’s an incredible play and the kids are of the right age for those parts. It’s been a small but dearest wish of mine.”

Radcliffe, Watson, and Grint are all in their early 30s, putting them about the appropriate age to portray Harry, Ron, and Hermione on the big screen again for this narrative. The Cursed Child centres on Harry and Draco Malfoy’s offspring, with the original protagonists as supporting characters. The show broke Broadway records when it launched in 2018.
Columbus directed 2001’s The Sorcerer’s Stone and 2002’s Chamber of Secrets. He also produced Prisoner of Azkaban. David Yates directed all four Harry Potter movies as well as the initial two Fantastic Beasts movies.
Yates will next direct The Secrets of Dumbledore, the third Fantastic Beasts spinoff, in 2019.
Jack Thorne, John Tiffany and J.K. Rowling wrote the original play for Harry Potter; however, J.K. Rowling has now become an advocate of anti-transgender discourse which presents a difficult dilemma to those who support this renowned series of novels.
Warner Bros. is still developing a potential Harry Potter TV series and the computer game Hogwarts Legacy, which may allow users to create transgender characters.
