Eric Clapton tests positive for COVID, cancels shows

Eric Clapton, who said last summer that he reserved the right to cancel events at venues that needed audience members to provide confirmation of COVID vaccination, has cancelled two shows, but for a different reason: he recently tested positive for the coronavirus.

Eric Clapton tests positive for COVID

Clapton’s official Facebook page announced the gig cancellations in Zurich and Milan late last night. “Unfortunately, Eric Clapton is suffering from COVID,” the message adds, “having tested positive just after the second concert at the Royal Albert Hall.” His medical consultants have advised him that resuming travel and performing too soon could significantly postpone his entire recuperation. Eric is also concerned about infecting his band, crew, promoters, their employees, and, of course, the audience.

Who is Eric Clapton?

Eric Patrick Clapton CBE (born March 30, 1945) is an English rock and blues guitarist, singer, and songwriter who is widely recognised as one of the most influential guitarists of all time. Clapton was named second on Rolling Stone’s “100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time” list and fourth on Gibson’s “Top 50 Guitarists of All Time” list. In 2009, he was ranked fifth on Time magazine’s list of “The 10 Best Electric Guitar Players.”

Eric Clapton, CBE, is a British rock musician with a $450 million net worth. Clapton is a blues-rock guitarist, composer, singer, and songwriter who has been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame three times. He is ranked #53 on “Rolling Stone” magazine’s Top 100 Artists Of All-Time list and #2 on their list of the greatest guitarists (as a solo artist and with the Yardbirds and Cream).

Eric is one of the best-selling musicians in history, with more than 100 million albums sold, and hits like “After Midnight,” “I Shot the Sheriff,” “Wonderful Tonight,” and the Grammy-winning acoustic version of “Layla” among his 21 solo studio albums (the majority of which have been certified gold or higher). Clapton has received numerous honours for his work, including 17 Grammy Awards, and has been named an Officer of the Order of the British Empire in 1995, a Commander of the Order of the British Empire in 2004, and a Commandeur de Ordre des Arts et des Lettres in 2017.

Eric’s singing career has undoubtedly brought him the majority of his fame and riches, but he also has large real estate, art, and vehicle holdings. His automobile collection is easily worth $50 million, if not $100 million, and includes several exceptionally rare Ferraris. It’s difficult to estimate the value of his art collection, but consider this: in 2001, he spent $3.4 million for three Gerhard Richter paintings. He eventually sold them all individually for $77.3 million.

Who is Eric wife?

In 1979, Clapton married Pattie Boyd. She had previously been married to George Harrison, a friend of Clapton’s, from 1966 to 1977. She was the inspiration for Clapton’s compositions “Layla” and “Wonderful Tonight.” In 1988, they divorced.

In January 2002, he married his second wife, Melia McEnery, in a small church wedding.

Melia, who was born in 1976, is 31 years Eric’s junior. She works with Crossroads Center Antigua as a senior clinical adviser. When Eric was 53 and Melia was 22, they met at a party in 1999.
