Sins of a Solar Empire 2 is announced by Ironclad Games

Sins of a Solar Empire 2: Ironclad Games unveils the long-awaited sequel to 2008’s award-winning 4X real-time strategy game. Stardock will publish SOSE 2. SOSE 2 is coming to Epic Games Store.

Sins of a Solar Empire, a 4X real-time strategy game released almost 14 years ago, lets players control one of three factions, or six in the standalone Rebellion expansion, in a galaxy torn apart by perpetual conflict. Players colonise planets, create ships and space stations, and lead them to victory in epic space wars. The original game sold almost 200,000 copies in the first month for under $1 million.

The developer teased Sins of a Solar Empire 2 on October 16. The short announcement clip confirmed that all Sins of a Solar Empire factions would return. It showed a TEC battleship leading the fight against an unknown foe.
The game’s release date wasn’t in the trailer. Developers hope to provide a “technical preview” later this year, letting gamers to experience a single-player fight as the TEC Loyalists introduced in Rebellion. Ironclad Games will release a second preview this winter, then a multiplayer demo and complete alpha in 2023. SOSE 2 will remain in early access for around a year, according to the developer.
Sins of a Solar Empire 2 adds planetary orbits. Instead than staying in static positions on the system map, players must plan around celestial bodies’ movements. The game will have upgraded visuals, a better physics engine, and 10-player fights.

Pre-Ordering the game

Pre-ordering the game via Epic Game Store lets fans play tech demonstrations and alpha. Sins of a Solar Empire 2 costs $39.99 to pre-order; the final price will be $49.99. Stardock and Ironclad want to release Sins of a Solar Empire 2 on Steam and Game Pass, but they haven’t made any commitments.
