Star Wars Movies in Order: Until 1999, the Star Wars movies fit within the galaxy’s chronology in the order they were released.
The Prequel Trilogy complicates matters by showing Anakin Skywalker before he became Darth Vader. A New Hope is now the fourth Skywalker Saga film. Lucasfilm calls Episodes I-IX The Skywalker Saga, in which Anakin Skywalker and his descendants impact the galaxy.
The Phantom Menace is the fourth movie to be released. When you include Solo: A Star Wars Story and Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, A New Hope becomes the sixth movie in the overall chronology.
Below is every live-action Star Wars movie to date, including all nine Episodes of the Skywalker Saga, Solo, and Rogue One.
We anchored the chronology on A New Hope, which is how the fictitious world measures time. In-universe dates are established relative to the Battle of Yavin, which ends A New Hope.
You won’t see the 2008 Clone Wars movie on this list since it was a TV pilot with grandiose ambitions. It doesn’t operate without the Clone Wars TV programme.
