How to Fix Roomba Charging Error 1 ?

Error 1 on a Roomba vacuum cleaner is typically a charging error. Here are a few steps you can try to fix it:

  1. Make sure that the Roomba is placed on the charging dock correctly. The charging contacts on the bottom of the Roomba should be securely seated in the charging pins on the dock.
  2. Check the power cord and charging dock for any damage. If either the cord or the dock is damaged, it could be causing the charging error.
  3. Try resetting the Roomba. Remove the battery and hold the power buttons for 30 second. Then, reinsert the battery and try charging the Roomba again.
  4. Check the outlet that the charging dock is plugged into. Check the outlet and cord.
  5. If the Roomba wont charge after all the above steps the battery may be damaged and needs to be replaced.

If these steps fail to charge the Roomba, contact the manufacturer.

Check the Charging cable:

Check the charging wire before trying any of the other suggested fixes. Error 1 will appear on your Roomba robot’s display if it is unable to charge because of a problem. The charging wire is always a likely culprit when a battery-powered electronic equipment stops working. Do a complete inspection, please.

If the cable appears fine, you can continue.

Battery and Terminal Cleaning:

There’s probably some dirt or carbon on the battery or dock’s connectors.

  • The device’s bottom cover may be detached by removing four screws.
  • Take off that yellow battery tag forever.
  • Make sure the battery terminals are clean by checking them and then cleaning them with rubbing alcohol. Use the q-tip to gently brush the battery connections.
  • Use the same method to clean the robot’s internal contacts.
  • Reattach the bottom and reinsert the four screws.
  • Use the rubbing alcohol once again to disinfect the Roomba robot’s charging ports.
  • The Roomba robot then has to be charged for a minimum of 16 hours.
  • Verify whether the first mistake occurs now.
  • If error 1 persists, go to the next possible fix.
