Career

After playing in a tournament in France with his Guadeloupe youth team, Loval attracted the attention of several major French clubs. After deciding to join a Paris-based sports academy, Sochaux scouted him and recruited him to their youth squad. In Sochaux, he played alongside El Hadji Diouf for a while before moving on. Having previously played for Valenciennes and Besançon, he was discovered by Cercle Brugge. John van den Brom, the scout for Dutch club De Graafschap, convinced him to sign with the club rather than another.

In 2003, Loval settled in the city of Doetinchem. As a rookie for De Graafschap, he helped the team earn promotion via the promotion/relegation play-offs and scored three goals in twenty-five games. Loval played for 19 games and scored 5 goals in the Dutch first division before signing with the Dutch second-tier team Go Ahead Eagles in 2005.

The former Deventer player Loval scored 11 goals in 30 games in his debut season with the club. Several clubs in the Dutch top division began to pursue him, but on January 27, 2007, he committed to FC Utrecht.

He was signed as a midfielder but was eventually inserted into the starting lineup up front due to a dearth of strikers. Loval has vowed never to play for any other Dutch club but FC Utrecht, where he is under contract until 2011.

August of 2010 saw his return to France, and with it, a free transfer to Vannes OC. Loval’s departure from FC Utrecht was cited as “personal reasons,” according to the team’s announcement.

After two years and 35 appearances at Orléans, where he scored 8 goals, Loval signed with FC Fleury 91 of the Championnat de France Amateur for the 2015-16 season, his final year as a football player.
