The Asus 6z has arrived in the Indian market at a starting price of Rs. 31,999. The latest flagship phone from the Taiwanese manufacturer has already been teased a number of times online. Formerly called the Zenfone 6, the name was changed after Asus ran into legal trouble over a trademark issue. The Asus 6z now brings in a new refreshed design with a flip camera which houses a dual-lens system.
The Asus 6z is the latest kid on the block after the Zenfone 5z which was the Asus’ flagship. The Asus 6z gets a glass sandwich design with a metallic frame. The Asus 6z now brings a tonne of new features and hardware, coupled with an innovative flip mechanism. The 6z has been launched in two RAM configurations – 6GB of RAM and 8GB of RAM. Internal storage is pegged at 64GB, 128GB, and 256GB. However, the 256GB variant is only available with 8GB of RAM. The internal storage is expandable with the dual SIM-microSD hybrid tray.
The 6z packs a massive 5000mAh battery which has been claimed to provide up to two days of battery life, and delivers up to 26 days of 4G standby, up to 21 hours of Wi-Fi web browsing and up to 33.3 hours of talk time. The smartphone is equipped with USB type C charging slot and supports Quick Charge 4.0 fast charging. An 18-Watts Quick Charge 4.0 Charger is provided inbox.
The Asus 6z gets a new designed Flip Camera which is a motorized flip-up dual-camera module serving as both front and rear cameras. This innovative solution means that there is no need for a camera notch to mar the display. Additionally, it also means that Flip Camera offers the same high-resolution photos and shooting capabilities whether it is used as a front camera or as rear.
The main camera of ASUS 6z boasts the latest Sony IMX586 48MP sensor with an f/1.79 wide aperture lens and Quad Bayer technology for incredible day and night photography. The 2×1 OCL PDAF autofocus system provides the best focus and anti shake performance, and the 13-megapixel 125-degree ultra-wide secondary camera lets users fit more friends and scenery in the shot, with real-time distortion correction.
The Flip Camera module is made from liquid metal (amorphous alloy); Asus claims it is a highly advanced material that is 20 per cent lighter than stainless steel, but with four times the strength. For added protection, a G sensor in the module detects the rate of acceleration, allowing Flip Camera to automatically return the module to a safe position if the phone is dropped.
A custom precision stepper motor smoothly rotates the camera module by up to a full 180-degree between front and rear camera positions. In the free angle mode, Flip Camera can be positioned at any angle, giving users the freedom to frame their subjects from high or low angles without having to contort themselves into awkward or uncomfortable shooting positions. There are several other shooting modes available, including Auto Panorama for assisted panoramic shots, and Motion Tracking for automatic subject tracking when recording videos. The new HDR+ Enhanced and Super Night modes provide the best day and night photography experience.
